Jack Russell Jumping Training 101

!±8± Jack Russell Jumping Training 101

Jack Russell Terriers have very vibrant and unique personality. They are fun-loving, cheerful and intelligent breed of terriers that capture the heart of most pet-lovers. They make a great companion because they're full of life as if nothing can make them miserable. For those people who love adventurous and fun activities, well, you and this dog is perfect match.

Jack Russell Terriers are smart and highly trainable dogs, but they also hold extremely high energy level. They enjoy playing vigorous outdoor games, running and jumping around to chase a thrown ball or stick. They are fun to look at because they seem so happy, but some behaviors need to control, like jumping up on people.

These terriers are not difficult to train; in fact they can even perform impressive tricks. Nevertheless, the trainer should be no amateur and must execute unyielding commands.

Jack Russell Jumping Training 101 contains practical and effective ways to execute control over your pet.

Jack Russell Terriers can climb and jump over a barrier or fence as high as 5-feet! Now you have an idea how high they can jump on to you when they're excited. These dogs jump up on people as if saying, "Oh hi, you're home!" He simply wants to level himself to your height and greet you. Your dog's motive is clearly not bad, but still it has to be discouraged to avoid accidents in the future like jumping up on a little kid or elderly person.

The simplest way to carry out Jack Russell Jumping Training is by simply ignoring your dog and walk away. It may sound cruel to such an exciting dog waiting long hours for your arrival, but as a responsible pet owner you have to take control over his unlikable behavior.

The second step of Jack Russell Jumping training is to employ various ways to praise your dog every time he doesn't jump up. Praise your dog with an encouraging "good dog!" while smiling. You may also give delicious treat, or give him warm and encouraging hug or pat on the head. Eventually he will learn to differentiate which actions bring rewards and which will result to bad scolding.

Next option is to tell the "Sit!" command as a substitute for his jumping behavior. Every time he jumps up on any one, speak this command firmly. Follow his correct gesture with reward, either encouraging "Good dog!" praise. A crisp and yummy treat, nice pat on the head, or a good warm hug will definitely relay the signal well.

Praising your dog strengthens human and pet relationship; it encourages your pet to do correct actions without being told, building good connection with your dog and lets you contribute to his development.

Dog Fences: The Key to Happy Neighbors

!±8± Dog Fences: The Key to Happy Neighbors

Dogs are one of the most popular pet in the United States today. We spend lots of money on them, pamper them and are very devoted to our four legged "children." Dogs require a high level of responsibility, they need to be fed, walked and taken to the vet. Dogs also need to be kept safe and taught to be good neighbors.

The easiest way for a loving dog owner to keep their precious pet safe is to install a dog fence. There are several types of fences available on the market today, these fences act as a barrier, keeping your pet inside your yard. Chain link and privacy fences are the more traditional choices for keeping dogs (as well as children) safely in their yards. Pet safe invisible fences, also known as wireless fences are gaining in popularity with many dog owners.

There are advantages and disadvantages to traditional well as to the newer style of dog fences. Traditional chain link and wooden privacy fences offer a physical barrier to keep your dog in your yard and other animals or people out. These fences can be expensive to install and the wooden ones will need regular maintenance to keep looking good. In addition, many, many dogs learn to either dig under or climb over a traditional fence.

The newer wireless pet containment systems, also known as invisible fences also have advantages and disadvantages associated with them. This type of dog fence offers the owner a system that keeps the pet in the yard, but doesn't keep out other animals or people, which could leave your pet vulnerable. These fences can also be expensive to install, but they don't "break up" the look of any landscaping. This is especially important with homeowners associations restricting the use of traditional style fences. One big disadvantage to an invisible fence is that if the wire gets broken, there is nothing to keep your dog in its yard, except its training. It is very important when using this type of fence to train your dog properly and keep up on regular maintenance; this is will ensure that if a break occurs, it can be fixed as soon as possible.

Another very pressing issue for dog owners is the fact that dogs bark. Some dogs only bark when necessary, other dogs bark at absolutely everything. This is more of an issue if you live in a neighborhood where people are more likely to complain, or if you leave your dog outside for long periods of time.

There are many reasons that will make a dog bark, other animals, people or the want to come in the house. It is important to teach your dog as a puppy a command to stop barking. By teaching a puppy this type of command, the issue of barking can be better controlled, although not completely eradicated.

If the reason for the dog bark is boredom, or the want to come in the house, the installation of a dog door can virtually eliminate the barking. Dog door come in an array of styles and prices. They range from a standard hole cut in a door covered with plastic, to a more high tech version such as the automatic dog door. This dog door works in conjunction with a transmitter that is placed on the dogs' collar, allowing only your dog to enter your house.

As pet owners we want the best for our companion, the use of a dog fence and perhaps even a dog door will allow our pets and ourselves to live in harmony (most of the time) with our neighbors and friends.

Invisible Fencing For Cats

acornpetco.com Electronic Pet Fence systems utilize underground or above ground boundary wires and collars to safely contain pets. Your pet responds to the stimulation through 2 contact points on the Receiver Collar that touch your pet's neck. When your dog or other pet approaches the boundary, the collar warns him or her with a beeping alert. If the warning is ignored, a mild stimulus follows the warning. Electronic Pet Fence systems are a safe, effective and hidden way to contain your pet within his or her boundary so your pet can be contained to your property without having to pay the expensive cost of a traditional fence which can be unsightly. Also a dog may be able to just climb over, dig under or chew through a traditional fence.

The Wi Fi Waterproof Collar Transceiver is extremely small at 2.5"" in width, 1.5"" in tall and only 1.25"" deep. It only weighs 2.3 ounces, yet is packed with advanced electronics. The collar can be preset to one of 4 fixed static correction levels or a Progressive Correction setting. When approaching the preset boundary the collar emits a warning tone. If your dog continues to approach the boundary the preset correction level will be triggered. If you have selected setting 5 then Progressive Correction will be triggered. Progressive Correction starts at the lowest level. If your dog continues toward the boundary the internal microchip will continually increase the correction level based on the speed your dog is approaching the boundary and the distance your dog is away from the boundary. You can monitor this from your Smart Wi-Fi Base Station. In a multi-dog system, each collar can be independently programmed allowing you to customize your system for the temperament of each dog. Should your dog leave the Safe Zone the Correction will halt after 30 seconds. The Perimeter Wi-Fi Pet Fence includes a battery charger built into the Transmitter-Base ""Smart Station"" and two rechargeable batteries. Just put the fully charged battery in the collar and the drained one in the Smart Station. The Base Smart Station charges the battery while it monitors the charge level of the battery in the collar. When the battery in the collar gets low, take the fully charged battery from the Base Smart Station and replace the battery in the collar -- save money not buying replacement batteries. Battery recharge time normally takes 3 - 4 hours. When the battery in the Smart Base Station is fully recharged, it will act as a battery backup for 8 hours should the household power go out. This safety feature allows for continual safe operation and containment of your dog.NOTE: This product may not be used around a metal roof, large metal structures, or buried wires.

Invisible Dog Fence - Is Training Your Dog Difficult?

!±8± Invisible Dog Fence - Is Training Your Dog Difficult?

An invisible dog fence must not be used as replacement for actual dog training. In order to make your invisible dog fence effective in teaching your dog time and patience is necessary. Aside from that, you need to follow strict rules and guidelines to make the invisible dog fence system work effectively.

Using the invisible dog fence system for training your dog can either be done on your own or with a help of a professional dog trainer. However, even with professional help, you will still carry much of the burden of executing training guidelines for your dog whenever the trainer is not around.

Training the dog to recognize an invisible dog fence is both time-consuming and stretches your patience. However, this task is much easier when you are well-bonded together and the dog listens to your instructions.

This training system could span from 2-6 weeks, depending on how fast your dog can learn.

You can initially setup the training by placing small red flags along where you have buried the cable. This will serve as physical reminder for your dog on where its boundaries are. Make sure to tape the prongs on the collar to prevent sending out shocks to your dog.

Then, put on your dog's leash whenever they go out within the fence boundaries. A warning beep will start off whenever it goes beyond the area, so this will ensure the dog stays within the boundaries. When this happens, pull off the dog right away and praise him if he obeys.

Do this exercise throughout the day so the dog can get accustomed to this setup and will immediately back off when the warning beep is activated.

Once you have allowed the dog to be acquainted with this system, you can now remove the tape from the prongs on the collar to allow the shock. Although the shock is not painful to the dog it is enough to get their attention and alert them to turn back.

It is comparable to experiencing a static shock and then you come in contact with any form of metal. You need to make necessary adjustments for the amount of shock your dog will receive, according to its size and level of response.

However, every dog owner must be aware that not all shock collars can be adjusted so make sure to purchase those with adjustable settings. And whenever your dog goes out, check the collar to correct the shock level, just in case it reaches the border.

Make sure not to remove the dog's leash simultaneous with the removal of the collar prongs' cover. Keep the leash on your dog whenever he explores the area within the invisible dog fence.
